Henry I Of England - statue in Westminster//known as Henry Beauclerc (or Educated) the fourth son of William the Conqueror. Henry married Matilda of Scotland but continued to have a large number of mistresses, by whom he had many illegitimate children. Considered by contemporaries to be a harsh but effective ruler, Henry skilfully manipulated the barons in England and Normandy as well as his daughter and nephew who fought for his throne after his death.
Once by Morris Gleitzman. First book of a fantastic book series about a young Jewish boy living through the Holocaust. It is powerful, tragic and funny all at once. My brother doesn't read but read all of these books after being introduced to 'Once' by his English teacher.
