This little wren is hand appliquéd and embroidered on to a support of an old patchwork quilt fragment. I have used some cotton fabrics for the appliqué and hand turned the edges. A very fiddly job! ...Mad hatter watch brooch... ....All hand stitched and embroidered by me, by the sea from my little crafte nook... ...Vert slightly quilted onto beautiful Cabbages and Roses fabric... ...A crocheted bow to top it off, and a little charm stitched to some vintage trim... Pixie xx
Creating a bird with shibori stitch resist. This little wren has been constructed from mainly ori nui and maki age shibori stitches. The eye from overstitch embroidery stitches densely stitched. The top photo shows the various stitches before the fabric is pulled up and dyed. All a little bit fiddly on the fingers but worth it. Townhill Studio will publish a detailed blog on creating birds.
