Top-ranked Serena Williams is through to the quarter-finals in Miami, where she will cross paths with Germany's Angelique Kerber for the fifth time on the WTA tour. The American leads the head-to-head series 3-1 and will be looking to add a fourth win en route to the semi-finals.
Angelique Kerber is currently the highest ranked German in the WTA Rankings at number six. She has eleven ITF titles and two WTA titles to her credit and has been threatening to break through in the Grand Slams. She reached the semi-finals at the 2011 US Open and at Wimbledon a year later. She also reached the quarter-finals of the French Open in 2012.
