The Wedding Photos of 25 Musicians in Love

I pinned this because... Johnny Cash and June Carter married in 1968. Cash proposed to her during a live performance.

(Feb. 22, 1968), Johnny Cash was one happy man. It was on this day that the Man in Black proposed to his then-girlfriend June Carter, while they were performing together on stage in London, Ontario.

[Johnny Cash describes how he proposed to June.] To do it this way, a man has to know without a doubt that the woman he asks will give the 'right' answer. I like the idea of having a man that knows me that well, knowing that I would say yes. In one CD liner note, when he first met June he said to her they were going to get married someday & she replied she couldn't wait. Sometimes, you just 'know'.

Johnny Cash and June Carter on their wedding day, March 1, 1968. Their marriage lasted 35 years. When June died in 2003, Johnny was devastated. At her funeral, Johnny had to be helped from his wheelchair to view his wife’s face one last time. At a family gathering, he said, “I don’t know hardly what to say tonight about being up here without her. The pain is so severe; there is no way of describing it.” Johnny Cash died less than four months later.
