a shady courtyard of pebbles and brick paths, filled with acers, hellebores, ferns and grasses. A Buddha crafted from blue Karnataka stone, sits beneath Acer palamatum. I would love to have the space for this.
Japanese Blood Grass - a warm-season ornamental grass that is selected for its attractive, red-tipped foliage. It grows well in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 5 through 9 and thrives in sunshine and moist soil. I think I might have to give this one a try.
Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' (Japanese Maple) - One of the best Japanese maples for autumn colour, Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' is an elegant plant with leaves which turn glorious shades of bright scarlet in the autumn. The leaves are dark green from spring to early autumn. A superb large garden shrub or small tree for leaf colour in October.
This Feng shui garden utilises many Japanese Acers. The Acers forms are kept small as is tradition in Japanese gardens. The key colours in this garden are purple/violets/pinks and greens. Although not opposites on the colour wheel this combination of colours compliments each other and with the selection of plants gives the feel of a very tradtional Japanese garden.
