King James VI of Scotland (1566-1625) became King of England, first of the Stuart dynasty, after the death of Elizabeth I. He brought a new, more autocratic, style of government and was a believer in the Divine Right of Kings - the idea that monarchs were answerable only to God. These ideas were inherited by his son, Charles I, and put the monarchy on a collision course with the English Parliament.

St Jame's Park is the oldest on London's Royal Parks, it started life as the deer park for St James's Palace. In the 17th century Charles II had it converted into a landscaped garden.
