The island is famous for it these giant stone heads (called "moai"), carved by the indigenous Rapa Nui people more than 500 years ago.
Bora Bora, #French Polynesia Bora Bora is an island belonging to the archipelago of the Society Islands, specifically in the group of the Leeward Islands, in the Pacific Ocean. Administratively it is included within the overseas collectivity of French Polynesia. Located 250 km north-west of Tahiti, Bora Bora has a very unique shape. The island itself is in fact in the middle of a lagoon.
