Little Moreton Hall, Cheshire. The name Moreton probably derives from the Old English mor meaning "marshland" and tune, meaning "farm", thus literally "a farm at a marsh". Little Moreton Hall first appears in the historical record in 1271, but the present building dates from the early 16th century.
The House that Moved, Exeter, Devon, England. This 14th century house was moved all because archaeologists couldn't bear to part with it, but the city needed to run a road right through the property it originally stood on so they moved it Good job too! Photo by Tollhouse Alan,
Broadland Properties purchased Hever Castle and its collection from the Astor family in 1983. Broadlands are committed to the future of the Castle and during their custodianship have invested greatly in the historical integrity of the estate. They have added to the existing art collection prompting Dr. David Starkey to state that Hever Castle ‘now has one of the best collections of Tudor portraits after the National Portrait Gallery’.
