In this example, numerous small images have been cut out and arranged, accompanied by annotation. Colours have been positioned carefully, so that the final image appears balanced and cohesive (rather than busy and chaotic).
Every speck of the page has been considered and worked over, using colours that integrate and link with the Jenny Saville artworks analysed. The whole page thus becomes an opportunity to absorb information from an artist; imbued with technique, emotion and style.
These sketchbook pages are part of the research and planning in an A Level Photography project exploring the theme ‘Hidden Identity’. Articulate, well-reasoned annotation adds to the sharp, clean presentation style.
