New born Hampshire pig. This little piggy is scared. Look at it's straight tail. A happy pig has a curly tail. Hampshires were so pretty in the show ring. In my day we powdered the white ring and oiled the black part. Smart that the show pigs are cut and clean. No need for oil, shoe polish or baby powder. My favorite Hampshire was named "Dimples".
The New Forest National Park isn't actually new, since it was created by William the Conqueror in 1079 for the pursuit of Beasts of the Chase- namely red, roe, fallow deer and wild pig- but it has only been a National Park since 2005. This large area of heathland and forest covers south-west Hampshire, extends into south-east Wiltshire.
