Helped women get out of abusive situations by providing shelter for them until they got on their feet. Started agency that helped women get to work without having to leave their children alone. Teamed up with Steinman to found the Women’s Action Alliance, created the first battered women’s shelters in history.
Today’s girl crush goes to women’s rights activist Gloria Steinman. A leader of the Women’s Liberation Movement in the late 1960s and 1970s, Steinman helped create both New York and Ms. magazines, and helped form the National Women’s Political Caucus. We love an intelligent, independent woman!
