Antique Georgian Large Glass Serving Rummer with Ogee Bowl (Code 0147)

Description A very large and impressive late Georgian serving rummer.  It has an ogee bowl and stem with bladed knop.  The foot is quite thick and features a rough snapped pontil scar.  It dates around 1800 and is made in English lead glass.  This type of rummer was sometimes used with a toddy lifter to serve the drink into smaller glasses.  Not many survive due to the size, and they look just like a scaled up version of a rummer.  Nice as a centerpiece of a rummer collection - or to serve a whole bottle of port in!.   Condition Some wear and scratches around the bowl.  Minor mineral and air bubble inclusions typical for period, including one air bubble witness mark on the stem.  Plenty of wear to foot.Approx Dimensions Height: 19.5 cm ( 7 3/4 inch ) Width: 13.2 cm ( 5 1/4 inch ) across rim Weight: 916 grams (before packing) Stock Code:  0147  AG16-1 Shipping Shipping is free for most UK destinations but there may be a supplement for remote or offshore locations.
