For much of the First World War, the small French village of Vignacourt was always behind the front lines ¿ as a staging point, casualty clearing station and recreation area for troops of all nationalities moving up to and then back from the battlefields on the Somme.

Corset bodice * 1735 - 1750 Made from blue silk brocade with a large scale design of naturalistic flowers in pinks, greens and yellows. This is French silk - point rentree 1735-1737. There are blue linen tabs. It is lined with linen. It is heavily boned with eyelet holes down the backs and fronts for the stomacher. Sleeves would attach with blue ribbon. The cuff of the sleeves is trimmed with cream silk ribbon. There are 6 hip tabs. (female) (foundation garment)
