Guernsey FC 1, Spennymoor Town 3 THIS FA Vase run has brought memorable comebacks but even by GFC’s standards, they will have to reach Wembley the hard way. After 90 minutes against a ruthlessly efficient side, GFC face a Spennymoor-sized mountain to overcome in five days’ time. On paper, 3-1 is reversible and May’s showpiece match just about reachable, but they are up against a side that look every inch the winners of the competition they have been chasing for so long.

(11th Feb 2013) GFC progressed to the FA Vase quarter-finals with a fantastic 3-1 victory at Spalding United on Saturday. After falling behind to a superb Gary King strike early on, the Green Lions finally got into their stride and were level at the half-time break through star striker Allen’s equaliser. Allen set up Loaring to give GFC a 2-1 lead and when Allen added his second to make it three: one of the greatest achievements in the history of island football.
