Eric Liddell, The Flying Scotsman, won Gold in the 400m. at the Paris Olympics in 1924. His story is told in the Best Picture movie Chariots of Fire. Born in China, he returned to that country as a missionary, and died there in an internment camp in February 1945.
Eric Liddell - one of my heroes. "He was overflowing with good humour and love for life, and with enthusiasm and charm. It is rare indeed that a person has the good fortune to meet a saint, but he came as close to it as anyone I have ever known."
Eric Liddell Quote: “Purity does not mean crushing the instincts but having the instincts as servants and not the master of the spirit.”
Eric Liddell Quote: “If you are not guided by God, you will be guided by something or someone else.”
