'Sophie Alice D' Liberty Tana Lawn from the SS12 The National Gallery collection. This design was inspired by the picture ‘Flowers in a Glass Vase’ (1670) by Jacob van Walscapelle. The painting was chosen for the Liberty Art Fabrics Team by Isabel Saiz. The print was hand painted in the successful style of Viviana from SS11 to represent the abundance of tulips in Dutch flower paintings.
Bas Meeuws (1974) is a passionate photographer who has given a new twist to the traditional Dutch still life with flowers. Meeuws does not paint his flowers with a brush and oil paints, as his famous predecessors from the 17th century did. His images come from a digital reflex camera. No brushes or paint, but this is still Art with a capital A.
