I would add that it has been suggested by professionals in the field of mental health that people with BPD tend to be emotionally stunted - often around the age that a traumatic event may have occurred. So if a traumatic event occurred at the age of 3, would you call a 3 year old manipulative if they struggle with regulating emotions or have fear of abandonment etc?

The whole idea of spiritual cultivation—or education in general, for that matter—is that we can change. But most of us have a commitment to proving the opposite. We take pride in being the way we say and think we are. Even when we say we want to change, a deeper look shows us that while, yes, we do want to change, we are also so committed to, and comfortable with, the way we have defined ourselves that we sneakily work against the changes we want to make. --Norman Fischer via Lion's Roar

Poor Sherlock was so scared of losing his best friend when John got married; but we all know that true friends will not abandon each other, and thank goodness we know John wouldn't be like that. My defining Sherlock series created by Marissa Lugo
