Jean-Michel Basquiat: Versus Medici, 1982. Basquiat was a graffiti Artist he never moved from there to being a painter except by dint of being feted by the Art world once he was anointed he joined a long list of manufactured artists who created a career and millions of dollars. Some of his stuff is visually interesting as is a lot of Graffiti. Graffiti is the worlds Art Gallery there is more social comentry and artistic integrity in the Art on the street than in Galleries.
La Vie, 1903. In February 1901 Picasso’s friend Casagemas committed suicide: he shot himself in a Parisian café because a girl he loved had refused him. His death was a great shock to Picasso, and the painter would return to it again and again in his art. - I'm not a huge fan of Picasso, but this is one of my favorite art pieces.
Self Portrait by Pablo Picasso, a Spanish painter and co-founder of the Cubist movement who lived between 1881 and 1973. The portrait of a young man who seems old beyond his years. He is, without doubt, parodying one of Van Gogh's self-portraits with this air of austerity and a heightened sense of the macabre.
