I would use this in my classroom, as it is good to reward your students. Giving them something to work towards that is fun will encourage them to do the right thing. I want to have a controlled classroom! The best classroom in the school!(:
I have used this is my classroom for three years. It works like a charm. The students love to see how many gum balls they can earn during the given time. I have either set the timer for the full amount of work time or set it for smaller increments of time. As a reward, if they reach the goal, I sometimes give a piece of bubble gum, or something toward a classroom goal for some other reward...For example I might give them a letter toward building the word Compliments.
LOVE THIS!! Not only will it fit into my tiny classroom, but it is Kindergarten appropriate. Instead of writing out what the child did to fill a bucket, he or she just adds a pom-pom. We can work our way up to writing, but this is a way to start "Bucket Filling" at the beginning of the year with my little ones. I am so excited! :)
group or classroom management tool- could be used to go over expectations at beginning. Everyone's eyes looking at me (add Mr.Potato's eyes), everyone's ears are listening (add ears). If you notice a lot of a certain behavior, take the appropriate part off of Mr.Potato Head to symbolize what you need to make him whole/ continue the lesson
