Beef Roasting Joint

from Jamie Oliver

Perfect roast beef

INCREDIBLE OVEN BEEF ROAST. Another Pinner said "The veggies were so good! I put the potatoes in with all the other veggies. This is the best roast I've ever made, or possibly ever had. Definitely replacing crock pot roasts. I covered the roasting pan during cooking, and used rosemary and thyme for my herbs." <3

Slow Cooker Roast Beef. Did 300g topside beef for 2 of us in little slow cooker. 1 carrot, 1/2 onion, half a beef oxo cube. About 3 hours on auto, could have had a bit longer (or chop carrots a bit smaller). Lovely gravy.

Traditional English cooking: nettle pudding and other ancient recipes

Nettle pudding has been declared Britain's oldest recipe, dating from 6,000BC. When you think of old-fashioned English cooking, it probably conjures up images of roast beef or steak and kidney pie. But nettle pudding makes those dishes look like young pretenders. The creation from 6,000BC was yesterday declared Britain's oldest recipe. It was a staple of Stone Age man, who made it by mixing nettles and other leaves such as dandelion and sorrel, with barley flour, salt and water.
