Antique Japanese patchwork. This piece was probably made as a futon cover and repaired many times , little patches sewed on to cover holes . If we could see it up close we could see all the great details of hand-spun and hand-dyed textiles.
Kotatsu is a heated blanketed coffee table, invented in 14th century Japan, and can be found in most Japanese homes during the winter. While they are the focal point of Japanese homes during the winter, they usually aren’t the prettiest furniture.
