Soldiers of the U.S. 7th Infantry Division attack a Japanese blockhouse on Kwajalein. Kwajalein Atoll was invaded by the 5th Amphibious Fleet commanded by Rear Admiral Richmond K. Turner and the V Amphibious Fleet commanded by Major General Holland M. Smith from Jan - Feb, 1944. The 4th Marine Division would take the island of Roi-Namur along with surrounding small islets while the 7th Infantry Division would land on Kwajalein and other small islands of the atoll.
