Woman in long striped skirt with belted jacket , and big hat and umbrella, man in overcoat, bowler hat, spats, gloves and cane. Place unknown, in 1912 or 1913. Ethnology and Textiles blog, Museum of Texas Tech Univ.: "During the Victorian and Georgian periods, certain elements seen on military uniforms were reworked into women’s fashion, especially on women’s riding habits and coats. Occasionally, woman’s fashionable garments, such as this two-piece burgundy wool suit, adopted a few military elements like frog closers, chevrons on the sleeves, and a particular style of jacket."
