British steam car sets out to break 100-year-old land-speed record... but breaks down on test run


A new variety of hybrid rice has set a world record for output. The crops per mu (or about 0.07 hectares) have yielded as much as 1,537.78 kilograms of rice. That's over 9,334 kilograms per square mile. It's developed by Chinese agricultural scientist Yuan Longping, known as "The Father of Hybrid Rice." Hybrid rice is rice produced by crossbreeding different kinds of rice. It's deemed an important tool for combating food crises. Rice is a staple food for the Chinese.
