we've been designing for this arts festival since its genesis 10 years ago - we even came up with the name 'coastival'. the theme for 2019 - 'the greatest of times' - is opportunity to revisit some great coastival events of the past and bring new exciting music, performance and art to the yorkshire coast. the covers feature artwork by exhibiting artists david darcy and angela chalmers.

i was delighted to be asked to design the logo for local record label start-up 'village records', not least because i was already a fan of tom townsend's music. liz and tom at village wanted something with a slight retro feel and a warm friendly look that embodied their attitude to running the label. here you can see the logo on its first outing - a promo CD for tom's album.

branding for yorkshire-based clothing designer-makers holroyd and pickles. they asked for something quintessentially british with a hint of continental elegance. the resulting design blended inspiration from pre-war english shop signage with classic parisian extravagance. incorporating a full logotype, standalone monogram, and sister bridal range brand ‘gypsophila pickles’, the design was applied to gorgeous letterpress swing tags, clothing labels and modular packaging.
