CAMBRIDGE LOVER'S KNOT TIARA ~ FROM THE ROMANOVS TO PRINCESS DIANA Two were made, one for a Romanov, one for Princess Augusta of Hesse-Casse, grandmother of Queen Mary, who commissioned a copy for herself. A French neo-classical design, with 19 openwork diamond frames with an oriental pearl drop. Each arch is below a lovers knot bow. Queen Mary left the tiara to her granddaughter Elizabeth II, who gave it to Diana, as a wedding present. On her divorce, it was returned to HM The Queen.

FORMERLY THE PROPERTY OF MARGUERITE LADY ALLAN: Important seed pearl and diamond tiara, Cartier, circa 1909. Designed as an open work Greek key band millegrain-set with circular-cut diamonds within an outer border of seed pearls, framing a central detachable old mine-cut diamond. Provenance: Commissioned by Sir Hugh Montagu Allan for his wife, and with her on the ill fated final voyage of the RMS Lusitania in 1915. The tiara was with Lady Allan's maids when they were rescued from the shipwre...
