Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi or MS Subbulakshmi (Tamil: மதுரை சண்முகவடிவு சுப்புலட்சுமி, Madhurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi ? 16 September 1916 – 11 December 2004). Carnatic music in Southern India was once male dominated. Once Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi or MS hit the scene, women finally were more respected.
