Lion Rampant - African empires

Research for a project to build a (as far as possible) historically accurate representation of the armies of Mansa Musa & the Mali empire in the 13th-14th centuries. I've not found any evidence to suggest anyone has done this before, and the sources are limited to say the least. But here goes....
