Tree that I made in my classroom. It's bulletin board paper all scrunched up. It's stuffed to make it 3-D. We call it the peaceful tree. Children are encouraged to sit by the tree when they are in trouble, sad, angry, tired, etc. There is a library clipboards for kids to write/draw their feelings.

beginning of the year, read where the wild things are and then get students to do writing for the bulletin board

Tree idea for Reading Area, tent... Options: attach some of the branches to the ceiling /or drape thin blue cloth for sky/night sky. Add white Christmas lights to the "sky" i.e. on the hanging fabric or wall ceiling.

Writing stimulus - what's through the key hole? Make a link with stories, fantasy settings etc. Nice photo for a piece of extended writing, possibly even based on 'The Secret Garden' as I used as a stimulus last year with Year 1.
