Communication & Connection: Little, simple advice: buy a local simcard if you are planning to stay in the same country for more than 5 or 7 days. It will be less expensive than any roaming pack, useful for having 24 hours access to internet, maps, social networks, and to get in touch with locals if you are planning to use Couchsurfing or AirBnb or just to meet locals.
Get a good backpack. Go to the store, try the bag you want on ask them to put the amount of weight you will roughly be carrying. Suggested weight should be no more than 1/4 or at the outer limits 1/3 of your body weight.
The heavier stuff as jeans, towels and small jackets goes on the bottom. This will give more stability to your bag and save a lot of space. Remeber to bend carefully all your clothes, even underwear. Same mass but less volume equals more available space. Try to fill the empty corners with small things or socks… you will see that the number of clothes you can take with you will increase a lot!

My most valuable souvenirs like many is my pictures. If you are not traveling with a computer I would highly recommend to buy a few memory cards off Amazon.com. For me, I was not shooting in RAW and was filling up a 32 GB memory card in 3 months which is roughly over 9,000 pictures. Based on how long your trip is and also whether you’re shooting in RAW you should plan appropriately with enough memory cards to store your pictures.
Bag: the front loading Farpoint by Ospery with a capacity of 55 CL and detachable day bag. Some of my favorite features of this bag are - On the main bag the zippers have a place where they can be locked together. – Hidden pocket for a small laptop or tablet on the detachable day bag. – The straps on the main back can be zipped away so they are not accidentally damaged in transit.
