Sugar butterflies and Pretty flowers - Little Noa turning One year old was a joyous occasion for Cake Canvas – happiness in a box. Being one of the youngest fans of Cake Canvas – yes, at just nine months old, the chubby little angel would put away all her worries at the sight of a cake!! Add to that, she is my little niece who can simply melt my heart like Belgian chocolate with her smile. My darling puff pastry with light eyes loves butterflies and flowers.

Olaf encore - With every falling flake of snow I see, My dear lord I pray to thee, Let it fall into a snowy mount so tall in its profusion And out emerge my snowy friend, Olaf from ‘Frozen’. Little Ehaan loves the character Olaf from the movie Frozen. His parents surprised him with a sweet depiction of the one year old with his favorite toy and to add to the fun, wanted 12 Olaf cupcakes to surround the cake.

Playtime Tom n Jerry, the terrible two keeps visiting kids around the globe to spread their infectious brand of tireless cheer. This time, the occasion was Aryan’s 1st birthday. His mom Ashwini and I narrowed down a long list of superheroes and cartoon friends to the frolicking favorites. The cake, along with the miniature Aryan and his friends travelled all the way to Bengaluru by train in the safe hands of his uncle.

Colours of life - Little Avni is living the dream in the caring embrace of her parents and celebrating her first year of blessing their lives with her presence. To mark the colourful occasion, her Mom wanted a cake which carries all the colours of the rainbow – perhaps as a mark of the extra colours the little cherub brought into their lives just 365 days ago.

‘Mini Me’ moment for Thea Rose Thea Rose’s first birthday carried a Princess theme. The caricature cake adorned with pink fondant frills and a pink rose for Thea ‘Rose’ was requested way in advance by her mom Mary Joy. A picture of the little birthday dress was mailed to me along with Thea’s photographs to make sure that a miniature Thea welcomed the birthday girl from atop the cake.

Cuddlybear - A fluffy pink teddy came-a visiting little Leia on her first birthday wearing a heart on his belly and rump. The little angel loves butterflies and stars and they had to come along with the portly cuddlebear. It’s so nice to make bigger models as the size lends itself to experimenting. The texture is so much easier on a bigger size teddy like this one.

The Hanging Bird House - Johan and Jayi gave me the freedom to choose whatever theme I could for my niece Zoe. At the first chance to veer off the road, I took off and after two days of mulling over how to bring a radical approach to the cake, we decided to go with an anti- gravity cake. Specifically, a hanging bird house.The sweet bird house was hung from the wooden ceiling for all to see. We had major fun watching people ignoring the cake thinking it is a toy cage.

Fairy Barbie Mathu, my nephew and his pretty sister Dhea share their birthdays. Dhea wanted a fairy barbie with a baby boy figurine on the side, looking on. Barbie’s dress inspired from Ipoh Bakery -Fashionista barbie doll cake.
