PG26 Isparta by Pierre Guillaume
Isparta roses, a particular variety in perfumery coming from Turkey. These roses have a rich sweet character and in PG26 Isparta, the perfumer chose to mix their intoxicating aroma with oud, Peru balsam and a pinch of ambery patchouli. This way the perfume is so luxuriously dense and saturated you can almost wade through its dark rosy glory.

Rose de Mai, Jean-Claude Ellena for Perris
Rose de Mai (aka rosa centifolia 'the rose of hundred petals'), the French Grasse speciality with a rich creamy, slightly metallic character. This variety in only grown in one area in France. Meet Rose de Mai, Jean-Claude Ellena for Perris, made with French rosa centifolia absolute (the finest extract option). Notes: rose de Mai absolute, immortel, rose geranium, musk

Roses in perfumery
So many options - Damask (grown in various locations), French centifolia and so many ways to interpret them. There are rose soliflores (Rose de Taif by Perris and Eau de Protection by ELdO), there are fresh 'rose garden' perfumes (Rosamonda /J.U.S and PG13 Brulure de Rose by PG), there are chypres (MAAI by Bogue) and oriental roses (Coda by Aqualis), there are leathery blends (Bull's Blood by Imaginary Authors)

In Rosamonda (an amalgamation of 'rose world') the perfumer recreates a beautiful story of rose pickers harvesting roses early at dawn. art of rose's metabolism (but aren't detectable, unless you disturb/cut the roses). Perris Rose de Taif in an extrait
The rarest of roses in perfumery: rose from the Taif area in Saudi Arabia. These flowers have their own unique aroma and most of the harvest stays in the country. Very few perfume houses ever get their hands on rose de Taif. The EdP option smells less metallic and more "happy rose petals warmed by the sun" (thank you lemon). Whereas Rose de Taif in the extrait concentration is more metallic leathery and heavier on geranium. So hard to chose!

Wicked John by Strangers
"Mr. Wick broke the rules" (/John Wick 3) and so did this perfume. Roses do not have to belong to sweet lighthearted arrangements. A rose note can be dark, leathery and green on the verge of gun oil kind of drama and intensity. All that's required is the right company, just like in Wicked John, a perfume in which a rose note solemnly sits next to tobacco, orris, hay, a gun powder accord and lavender. Notes: gun powder, leather, Atlas cedar, metallic notes, orris (iris root), tobacco, Damask ros

MAAI by Bogue
An infamous rose like no other (and a rare 5 stars rating from Luca Turin). This formula feels like the rose has petals made of fine leather. Resins are layered with intense flowers and animalic notes roam in the dark corners of this perfume in their fearful symmetry.

La Vie en Rose perfumes
An anthology of beautiful roses, their natural varieties and fantastic roses invented by perfumers to rival those of Nature’s. This edit covers formulas in which Damask, Bulgarian, French centifolia, and Turkish roses play an important part. There are also examples of the use of materials and molecules that sometimes play the rose’s part or amplify it in an interesting way (rose geranium or clever molecules with names such as 2-phenyethyl alcohol for example).
