MALT CROSS

The Malt Cross on St James's Street in Nottingham is one of only a few remaining Victorian Music Halls in Britain dating back mainly to 1877, with some parts predating this further. It is a hive of activity which promotes Creative and Musical Heritage and is in the process of setting up educational links to provide Heritage and Arts Outreach to the local community.

Music Hall perfomer Sam Torr in costume doing 'On the Back of Dayy- Oh'. Torr was a successful perfomer and music hall manager who was asked to take over the Malt Cross in 1909 to improve the trade. Sadly his stint as manager only lasted until October 1910 when he was removed for failing to improve the poor trade done at the music hall.
