Life is a test just because we are muslims, which doesn't mean we are exempt from hardships and tests of this world. Even the prophets tested severely, so for humanity, there is no excuse for them. Prophet Muhammad PBUH said that when Allah intend good for believers, he gives them hardships. Allah gives hardship to making us stronger, so we learn from our past mistakes and go ahead and get high status rewards for being patient and remaining on the path of truth.
