John's creates decorated functional oxidized stoneware ceramics. All clay is vitreous when fired, and is waterproof and frost proof. Colours shown are from stock glazes and have been developed over many years use. Decoration at the moment derives from brush strokes, or more usually scraffitti marks and patterns loosely based on a fusion of my Celtic roots and natural forms. #thesussexguild
Pewtersmith Fleur Grenier works with only lead-free pewter in her work, with the result that pieces stay shiny and do not go grey with time as old pewter does. She creates designs which are highly individual in style and range from one-off items to tableware and from cheese knives and serviette rings to desk clocks and vases.See her work on the Sussex Guild website and on our Spring 2022 online shop
Sally Garrett is a visual artist working within a craft and material context. She is interested in the relationship between dancer and fine artist. Sally chooses to use porcelain paper clay to recreate the form of the ballet shoes, owing to its sculptural quality. Applying hand to material, each piece is softly moulded over a worn ballet shoe and then assembled, like the sewing of a garment. Textural, intuitive marks are coloured, bisqued and glazed. #porcelain #balletshoes
