My pictures

Some of the picture from my collection (All the pictures shown are either in my collection or have been in the past) Some of the notes are a bit vague but I am trying to get a good selection of pictures up in a short time. I will modify some of the texts as I come across documentation to confirm dates of purchase etc. Writing the notes helps me to see gaps in my records and will spur me to do more research or keep better records!

David Ralph Simpson 01 I new nothing of the artist when I bought this and I was also under bidder on another one in the same sale...I wish I had got them both.

Ruskin Spear 09 This is a self portrait of the artist Ruskin Spear. I met him a few times at a gallery in Barnes (The Alton Gallery, in church Street), which is where I bought this picture in probably the late eighties or early nineties.

Richard Eurich 01 This is very small and was done when he was quite old. I used to have a much nicer and larger one which I bought at Sothebys in the mid 80's...It was then exhibited at the Imperial War Museum after I had sold it....I then saw it for sale at a Gallery in st James's some years later....needless to say for much more than I'd sold it for!

Robert Arthur Wilson 12 I bought this in late 2015 and I had been underbidder on the same picture 10 years earlier....I bought it for less this time than I had failed to get it for last time! This makes it seem like a poor investment, but if I wanted it then, why should I not want it now...I'm just delighted that I saved some money.

John Haggis 01 I bought this from a gallery in Stow on the Wold probably about 2010?, I love it because it reminds me of the view from our lounge before 'Dutch Elm Disease' decimated the elm population
