By and
Claude Debussy
One of his favourite ones was by the French composer Claude Debussy and was called Clair de Lune, which meant moonlight in French. He’d never heard it before, but now that he had, he couldn’t get it out of his head; not that he minded. It was the kind of tune that put you in a good mood. And he wasn’t always feeling in a good mood.
Catharina van Hemessen
"...There are some lovely pieces in the collection including a fab portrait attributed to the world’s first recognised female Flemish portrait painter Catharina van Hemessen who learnt her trade from her father in the mid 1500s. I could bore you for hours about this woman, but don’t worry, I won’t."
Geoffrey Wellum passes away (1921 - 2018) (UK) - BBC News - 20th July 2018
‘Ah, my word. I see you’re reading First Light by Geoffrey Wellum. Had the pleasure of treating him many years ago when I was a houseman. Lovely man. One of The Few you know. Flew Spitfires at the age of 18. They don’t make them like that anymore.’ He exited and closed the door with a click.
Hampstead Garden Suburb
So this was Hampstead Garden Suburb. A little piece of idyllic country living in North West London straight out of the pages of Homes & Gardens. It was the kind of middle-class England that Hasan detested. You wouldn’t find any mosques or halal butchers in this neck of the woods. But you’d find plenty of Christians and Jews - Israel lovers the lot of them.

Garden gnomes
The Bradford Gnome Decapitation case may have been a farcical affair, but Stevens took a pretty dim view of the defendant’s reckless behaviour despite his otherwise good character. And although criminal damage had amounted to little more than a few hundred pounds, it was Ibrahim’s use of an explosive substance that made this case particularly worrisome in the myopic eyes of Stevens.
Marking 100 years of The Ivy – BBC London News
‘Hi guys. Sorry I’m a bit late, but I thought I’d grab us some lunch from M&S.’ No matter how busy and flustered Natasha could be, she always managed to look as if she was about to be whisked off for lunch at The Ivy.
