The Zodiac board breaks the boundaries of the traditional backgammon layout, which has been rectangular for over 5000 years. Its round design plays to the circular nature of the game, as well as referencing the orbits of the sun and moon, and the ancient astrological year. 63.5cm diameter x 10.2cm high. Playing pieces are 27mm diameter. Shakers are 45mm diameter x 85mm tall, doubling dice is 37mm x 37mm, and dice are 14mm square. Handmade in the UK
The handcrafted dovetail drawers are lined in blue leather and satin wood, and contain the semi-precious playing pieces, blue calf leather dice shakers with inside lip, and doubling die and precision cut casino quality dice. The playing pieces have been designed to mirror the sun and moon travelling around the stars in orbit. The sun playing pieces are made from cabochon Carnelian, perfectly compliment the cast solid Silver of the moon playing pieces, designed to reflect the surface of the moon
