Trinity College, Park District, Glasgow
Trinity College in the background but it's the Disney tower to the right that is of more interest. It's attached to a remoddled 60s build where there once sat Park church, Designed by JT Rochead. Not as well known as some of Glasgow's other distinguised architects but no less prolific: The Western Baths; Adelphi Theatre; St John's & St. Andrew's churches and The Wallace Monument which he never received a penny for as it went way over budget and the contractor went bust! Some things never change. https://amcmurchie.com/product/park-circus-trinity-college-towers/
Mitchell Library, Glasgow
Named after Stephen Mitchell tobacco merchant & philanthropist. He never married and had no weans, so left a large sum of money for a library to be built for the people of Glasgow. The biggest reference library in Europe. Still to this day! He was also responsible in large part for funding the building of Greek Thomson's St Vincent St masterpiece.
Rogano, Glasgow
"Romantic Rogano" You wouldn't even know it's there now, but it is, and it will be back. Art Deco classic built at the same time and by some of the workers who built the Queen Mary on the clyde in the ealy 1930s. Problem is the building is owned by the richest billionaire in Spain and he's too mean to through a few mil at it to repair the water damage and let the new Rogano owners get to work on restoring it back to its former glory. A haven all year round but even more so at Christmas time.
One Devonshire Gardens Terrace, Glasgow
"One Devonshire Gardens Terrace" 1870 Painted this three times now. First of the doorway for Sunday Herald. Second from the side angle for Sunday Herald with a huge lorry parked outside. Don't know what I was thinking!! It should always have always been this view though to show off its splendour. Last time you would have been able to look at it like this would have been when it was built. Before the trees. #onedevonshiregardens #hotelduvin #hotelduvinglasgow #adrianmcmurchie #theglasgowillustrator #hotelduvin #glasgow #shopscotland
Glasgow Cafes
"Glasgow Cafes" or what's left of them. Highlights for me are The Derby where I was brought up. You can still buy their tubs of homemade vanilla ice cream and it's still ace! The Kings where I had a flat and often indulged in an artery clogging roll 'n' fritter. You can see what cafes we have lost over the years on the walls of Cafe Gandolfi.
