No Place Like Home.
Whenever you’re decorating a space, always ask the question "how do I want to feel in this room?" For me, always cosy with a laidback slouchy vibe, an earthy palette and considered visual intrigue. Surround yourself with things you love, overdose on texture and incorporate natural materials and handcrafted pieces with imperfections that add character and soul and you'll create a home you literally never want to leave. Happy decorating! #maximalist #maximalistdecor #maximalistinteriors

For ages this space opposite my studio hasn’t been somewhere I’ve really wanted to hang out in for all sorts of reasons. The furniture didn’t quite work. i've changed it up - take a peek - what do you think?

Singular Style.
Inspired by the Spring runway, singular style is all about stepping away from the mould and breaking boundaries. People don’t often decorate in a cool fashion because they are scared they will fail. Face the fear of making mistakes, it will guide you on all sorts of incredible journeys. It’s easy to play it safe, but the trouble with taking the safe route is that it doesn’t allow you to inject personality into your home. Ditch the rules and opt for your own unique singular style instead!

Creating a Signature Feeling.
Designing spaces isn’t so much about creating a signature style, but a signature feeling. It's not just about how a room looks, it’s all about developing a process and creating a room's mood. Does the materiality excite, do the textures tantalise, does the furniture beckon you to linger longer? Do the colours feel restorative and comforting or exciting and intriguing? Nailing down how you want to feel in the room is the secret to a space you want to spend time in and never leave!

Laid-Back Glamour.
For me, this is all about contrast, pitting glam touches against more refined and rustic elements. In this room I've got a supersized glass chandelier, with a smattering of gold accents but there is also sheepskins, shaggy rugs, organic forms and rounded vases filled with trailing boranicals which makes for a space that still feels lived in and relaxed. A space you want to linger longer and settle into. Lux, but make it loungey! #modernrustic #laidbackglamour #laidbackluxe #abigailahern

My Perfect Spring Saturday at Home.
I start the day with a coffee while listening to a podcast and having a mooch around with the kids, G and I have our juice, before taking a stroll around the hood or heading to borough market super early. Then we will pop out into the garden and do some planting, we’ve got these incredible pots which I fill with rosemary or euc and plant up some herbs and ivy and grasses. Then in the eve, we’ll make something yum for supper with a glass of AA wine.

Carving out a Space for Relaxation.
I don’t know about you, but I need my home to foster feelings of relaxation, with little nooks and corners where I can find refuge away from all the hubbub. And it’s soooo important for our wellbeing to take time out and unplug from the digital world. I’ve created little detox areas, like my little cabin, devoid of digital distraction where I can just have a bit of a retreat away from screens. Love it!

More is More!
I am an unabashed maximalist, and here’s why. It’s an aesthetic that pulls in and weaves together different periods and styles through colour, form, vintage and modern pieces. It’s a curated narrative that holds comfort at its very centre, it’s all about being a mixologist and a collector of things. The most impactful spaces are ones that effortlessly combine furnishings and accessories from different periods, different styles and different places. Happy Decorating.
