16th century Padmanabhapuram palace was once the home of the Travancore (South Kerala) royal family.  The palace is built in the traditional Kerala style with lots of intricate woodwork, shuttered windows, murals and wall paintings.  It is now located in Tamil Nadu but is still maintained by the Kerala government.
